• Make the most of the summer during your A Levels
  • Get a valuable insight into the workings of the UK’s Central Bank
  • Experience life and work in the heart of the City
  • Gain practical experience that will serve you well when you start your career

If you’re currently studying for your A Levels, our paid summer internship programme is a great way to get your foot in the door, discover what goes on behind the scenes at the Bank and get some real-world work experience under your belt.

Together, with interns from across the UK, you’ll start with a full induction to the Bank, where you’ll discover more about the huge variety of work that we do here every day. During your time on the programme, you’ll benefit from training sessions that will hone your essential skills and have the chance to network with the other interns, school leavers, and graduates.

When you apply, you’ll be considered for one of the following areas:

Here you’ll get to see first-hand how the Bank works, and the crucial role it has to play in keeping the UK economy moving. Joining one of the many teams in either Central Services or Supervision, you’ll also gain plenty of practical experience in operational banking work and processing financial data.

Get up close and personal with the cutting edge technology that underpins everything we do, as you help to provide the crucial technical support that keeps the whole Bank running smoothly. Along the way, you’ll get to work with, and learn from, experts in the field, on projects that could focus on anything from improving customer service to launching new innovations.

Without the data that our statistics teams provide, we wouldn’t be able to properly monitor, respond to, or anticipate changes in the UK economy. Whichever team you join, you’ll gain an insight into research we do here at the Bank and how it informs UK economic policy, which has a real impact on the lives of everyone in the UK.

Who we’re looking for

In terms of grades, we’ll be looking for at least five GCSEs at grade C and above, including English and Maths. You must also be expected to achieve at least 180 UCAS points from up to three A Levels or equivalent.
