Protecting the Bank’s assets, reputation and sustainability. We do this by independently and objectively evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and governance processes. When we identify the opportunity, we recommend cost-effective improvements. If these are agreed with management, we track these new measures through to successful implementation.
What big issues might I be working on?
Because our work touches every area of the Bank, you could be involved in any of the key risks and issues that the organisation faces. In fact, every new major project or initiative undertaken by the Bank will offer the potential for you to get involved and contribute.
What sort of things could I do here?
They’re key members of our team, and they take on a wide range of challenges. These include:
- Reviewing and evaluating high risk projects and functions
- Working closely with senior management and key contacts across the
- Bank Contributing to international forums, such as the Internal Auditor’s Committee at the ECB and the Central Bank Internal Auditors Group
- Studying for a relevant accounting qualification sponsored by the Bank.
What could I be doing day-to-day?
The main focus of your role will be conducting audits. This will see you deciding which areas of key risk are the most important to investigate, and then performing tests and preparing reports for senior management. You’ll also support and monitor different business areas as they implement recommendations that our department has made.
